Artist Statement
My work expresses an aesthetic which includes such qualities as impermanence, humility and imperfection. Modesty and a love for the small things and details in the natural environment and their direct observation and recording are key attributes, resulting in a deep appreciation and gratefulness for the wisdom of these processes. Nature, ever changing, continuously creates and destroys form, both are interdependent and complete each other. I am imitating this process by creating and deconstructing texture and structure, attempting to alter pre-existing perspectives and understandings. Thoughts about feminism, sustainability, childhood memories, folklore and mythology are reflected both in art and performance.
