Artist Statement
A Palestinian Filmmaker and Photographer.
Growing in a country under occupation shaped and directed my lens towards the unseen and the overlooked, be it beauty or injustice. Through my creative work, I see life as a staged film; I try to take every chance to be the one who films or captures to highlight what I believe in. I use my lens to reflect the human experience, specifically human rights, humanity, and mental health. I usually tend to put the audience and myself in an isolated world with themselves through what I create. Therefore, I make sure I remove myself from the process of making my art to just concentrate more on the action and maintain objectivity.
My work during the past year was focused on representing mental health on screen. Therefore, I wrote, produced, directed and filmed Beyond Exile, a short film on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in the Palestinian Context.
