How and why do we, humans, choose to alter our environment and those inhabiting it? I transform and arrange biological and anatomical components into other contexts; most recently, I have found myself exploring the advanced human-made evolution of the canine species, from the wolf to the pug. Through human intervention and ingenuity, we have reimagined a species to conveniently resemble anthropoid babies. Flat faced, hypoallergenic dogs; aesthetically marvellous, with a multitude of anatomical and biological disorders. As a printmaker I possess a keen interest in technical proficiency; I find myself compelled to engage in systematic approaches that require planning, technical mastery and a willingness to fail, reimagine and repeat.
