Artist Statement
Hi my name is Clara Weinmann. My final year project is based on my two weeks isolation when my housemate had Covid19, and my collection will be festival clothing. I am mainly focusing on the different emotions I felt and the different objects that I saw on my daily walks to the beach. I want to incorporate the madness that was experienced over the two weeks into my final collection. I want to focus on the contrasts between the different emotions, colours and textures that I felt and saw each day. I am going to use preloved denim jeans for my final collection I will be cutting them into thin strips which will be sewn together and then knitted. I will also be using florescent orange lycra material that was inspired by the bright coloured cones at the covid testing centre and white cotton sateen. I will also be doing hand and machine embroidery, adding embellishments and disperse dying.
![By Clara Weinmann. This is an image of my first garment. I am using old denim jeans that I collected, I wanted to upcycle in my final collection as it is something I have great interest in. I decided to cut them up into strips, sew them together and knit them. I used this technique as I felt it expresses the destressed and worried emotions I felt during covid.](https://sdcagallery.atu.ie/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Clara-Weinmann-1.jpg)
