Ciara Buckley, born 1998, originally from Co. Limerick and studying in Galway is a student of Fashion and Textiles. Ciara always had an interest in art and design and loved learning and developing her skills and interests in her Art classes in secondary school. After studying French and Irish for a year in Limerick, Ciara decided to change directions and pursue her love of creativity. After finding this Design course in ATU Galway, she didn’t look back. Ciara chose the fashion and textiles pathway and starting with no prior skills, she learned and developed her knowledge of the industry. Learning pattern drafting, garment construction, print design and textile techniques and a range of other skills, Ciara developed and improved her practice. Her final project, titled ‘Metamorphosis,’ is inspired by the transformation and process of decay of natural objects. Using fruit as a visual source, she observed and documented the textures, surfaces and colours that occurred and translated these into fabric and textiles.
